COMMISSION F
United States National Committee
for the
International Union for Radio Science (URSI)
ABOUT USNC URSI COMMISSION F
Commission F is concerned with electromagnetic wave propagation and
sensing in non-ionized media, which includes radio-meteorology,
radio-oceanography and remote sensing using satellites. The commission
encourages study of all aspects of wave propagation at all frequencies in
a non-ionized environment -- especially wave propagation over the Earth's
surface, wave propagation in, and interaction with, the neutral
atmosphere, wave interaction with the Earth's surface (oceans, land, and
ice), wave propagation through, and scattering by the subsurface medium,
as well as characterization of the environment as it affects wave
phenomena. In addition, the commission applies results of these studies,
particularly in the areas of remote sensing and communications, and
cooperates with other URSI Commissions and other relevant organizations.
